Discovering Cultural Colonialism

collaborative mural with Gaia and Color Libre for Cobian's Plaza in Santurce, PuertoRico

"Discovering Cultural Colonialism" looks at Puerto Rico's role as a tourist hotspot to speak on jogging as a harbinger of change, the similarities between cruise tourism and the European age of discovery as well as the idea of endemic vs transplanted flora and fauna that make up our idea of present environment with the example of a Cuban Royal Palm, the aesthetically pleasing tree, and the Hispaniolan Parakeet, now extinct in Puerto Rico but survived by the subspecies of Puerto Rican Conure. These coincidences and overlaps come together to mirror or imply a current reality of the island and it's mestizos from our perspective as transient artists.
