Jopará
a mural for @latidoamericano en #Asuncion #Paraguay • Jopará Is the #Guaraní word for "mixture." Mixture, mestizaje and magia are what this mural talks about. It juxtaposes photos taken by ethnographer #GuidoBoggiani of the #Guaraní at the turn of the century along with the national flag, frijoles, maiz and Michelangelo's "David"- one of the seminal works of #neoclassical sculpture and the idealization of the male figure by Western European patriarchal eyes.
