el paraíso

a mural painted for Fiesta de Colores, an earthquake relief project working in the Ecuadorian coast that aims to revitalize the tourist economy in the area after the 2016 earthquake.
This mural is located at the entrance of the community and serves as a welcoming sign that, like the sign hanging on the building, speaks of paradise and leisure. The building itself serves as an element that can be read as a hat on top of the visible half head or as a continuation or nature and architecture while at the same time representing the continuous presence of the Ecuadorian Afro-Latinx community of the coast.
