This piece is based on a photograph taken by @jessxsnow of Gracie in #Navajo nation, many thanks to her and her family for allowing me to make work from this image. The piece also contains the Standing Rock Sioux tribe flag and the #Wiphala, the Indigenous Andean people's flag plus a symbol for water and an abstraction of Benjamin Franklins political cartoon "Join or die" which called for the unity of the colonial states to fight against the British Empire, in the same way this image echoes the current first people's call for unity across borders against greed, globalization, predatory capitalism and injustice perpetrated against the earth and the indigenous protectors who fight to save our planet
